Allwinner Flash Tools · Comparison Guide

PhoenixSuit vs LiveSuit vs PhoenixCard: Which Flash Tool?

Allwinner devices can be flashed with several tools, and the names are confusing on purpose — PhoenixSuit, PhoenixCard, LiveSuit and PhoenixUSBPro are all part of the Allwinner official tool family, but each was built for a different job. Using the wrong one usually just means it won’t work; using the right one saves you an afternoon. Here is how to pick.

Pick in one line

  • Unbricking your own TV box or tablet → PhoenixSuit. It is the tool you download from our homepage along with the Allwinner USB drivers.
  • Factory batch flashing → PhoenixCard (TF card workflow) or PhoenixUSBPro (USB production line).
  • Ancient A10/A13 device from 2012–2013 → LiveSuit, and only then.

PhoenixSuit vs PhoenixCard, explained

The most common confusion is between PhoenixSuit and PhoenixCard. PhoenixSuit connects your PC to the device over USB and flashes the firmware directly onto the board — that is what you want when you have one device in your hands that needs fixing or upgrading.

PhoenixCard does not touch your device at all. It writes a specially prepared image onto a TF/SD card on your PC. That card then boots the target device and flashes it. Factories use this to prepare hundreds of identical units: burn one master card, duplicate it, pop one into each unit.

What about LiveSuit?

LiveSuit is PhoenixSuit’s predecessor from the Allwinner A10/A13 era (roughly 2012–2014). For those ancient chips it still works, because nothing newer supports them. For anything built in the last decade — H3, H6, H616, H313, H618, T507 and friends — LiveSuit will simply not work with the firmware or the drivers. If your device is not an A10/A13-era antique, do not use LiveSuit; use PhoenixSuit instead. See our PhoenixSuit version matrix (v1.04–v1.19) to pick the right release.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use LiveSuit on modern chips?

Not recommended. LiveSuit is the legacy predecessor of PhoenixSuit and was designed for the A10/A13 generation. It does not support current chips or modern firmware formats. Use PhoenixSuit v1.19 for everything except A10/A13 antiques.

What is the difference between PhoenixSuit and PhoenixCard?

PhoenixSuit flashes a device directly over USB — the tool for personal unbricking and upgrades. PhoenixCard writes a bootable image to a TF/SD card on the PC, which then flashes the device — the tool for factory batch production of identical units.

Is PhoenixUSBPro free for personal use?

PhoenixUSBPro is Allwinner’s official mass-production tool, meant for factory lines flashing many units in parallel over USB. It is not the tool for personal use; if you have a single device to fix, PhoenixSuit is the right choice.

Do I need the Allwinner USB drivers?

Yes, for anything USB-based (PhoenixSuit, PhoenixUSBPro). Windows will not see your board in flashing mode without them. Grab them from our drivers page before you start.
