Transpeed (H616) Firmware Download & Flashing Guide

Flash or unbrick your Transpeed TV box powered by the Allwinner H616 chip โ€” the right firmware, the right steps, with PhoenixSuit.

Identify Your Box

Transpeed sells several H616-based models (often with 6K branding and varying RAM/storage such as 4+32GB or 4+64GB). Before flashing:

  • Check the sticker on the bottom of the box for the exact model name and memory configuration.
  • On a working box: Settings โ†’ About to confirm the chip/CPU line.
  • Keep the seller listing or packaging โ€” you need the exact revision to find matching firmware.

Confirm the Chip: Allwinner H616

PhoenixSuit only works with Allwinner chips. The H616 is a quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC with 6K output support, common in Transpeed’s lineup. Confirm it via the About screen, the seller’s spec sheet, or the marking on the SoC itself if you open the case.

Tip: Transpeed model names are reused across chip generations. If your unit turns out not to be Allwinner-based, stop and use the tool made for its actual chip.

Where to Find the Firmware

โš ๏ธ We do not host firmware files, and we will never link a “universal” image. Flashing the wrong image for your board is the fastest way to brick it.

To get the right .img package:

  • Go to the seller page where you bought the box (or the brand’s support page) and look for a firmware/download section matching your exact model name + hardware revision.
  • Check the sticker on the bottom of the box and the packaging โ€” the hardware revision (e.g. V2.1, 2+16GB) must match the firmware package.
  • Never use a generic package: a firmware built for a different board or RAM/storage configuration can brick the device even if the chip name matches.
  • If the seller provides no firmware, contact them and ask for the factory .img for your exact revision before attempting anything.

How to Flash with PhoenixSuit

  1. Install the Allwinner USB drivers on your Windows PC first โ€” without them PhoenixSuit cannot see the box in FEL mode. Download the drivers ยท full walkthrough on our drivers page.
  2. Install PhoenixSuit from the official package (see download page for version notes).
  3. Get the correct firmware .img for your exact model and hardware revision (see the section above). Place it somewhere you can find it.
  4. Open PhoenixSuit, go to the Firmware tab and click Image to select your .img file.
  5. Power the box OFF completely (unplug the power adapter). Hold the reset button (tiny pinhole, usually on the bottom or back), then connect the box to your PC with a USB cable while keeping reset pressed for a few seconds. The box enters FEL (flash) mode โ€” PhoenixSuit should detect it.
  6. PhoenixSuit will ask whether to format. Choose Yes for a clean flash. Warning: this wipes all data on the box.
  7. Click Upgrade and wait. Do not unplug the USB cable or the PC until the green success bar appears.
  8. Unplug, connect the box to your TV and power it on. The first boot after flashing takes several minutes โ€” be patient.
โš ๏ธ Do not interrupt the flash. A power cut or unplugged cable mid-flash is the #1 cause of hard bricks. Use a reliable USB cable, plug the PC into mains power (not battery), and don’t touch anything until PhoenixSuit reports success.

Unbrick Tips

If your box won’t boot after a bad flash, work through these before giving up:

  • Re-enter FEL mode carefully: unplug everything, hold reset, then plug in USB. Timing matters โ€” try a few times.
  • Swap the cable and USB port: cheap charge-only cables are a classic failure point. Use a known-good data cable and a rear motherboard USB port.
  • Reinstall the drivers: a yellow exclamation mark in Windows Device Manager means the driver didn’t stick. See the drivers page.
  • Try a different PC โ€” driver conflicts on one machine sometimes vanish on another.
  • Check the power supply: after flashing, boot with the original 5V/2A adapter. Underpowered adapters cause boot loops that look like bricks.
  • Flash the correct .img again โ€” most “bricks” are just the wrong firmware. Reflash with the right file for your exact model + hardware revision.

๐Ÿงฑ Bricked beyond repair?

If repeated unbrick attempts fail, the board may be physically damaged โ€” replacing it with a same-chip new box is usually cheaper than repair:

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I flash the wrong firmware?

Flashing a firmware package built for a different model, board revision, or RAM/storage configuration can brick the box โ€” no boot, no display, or broken Wi-Fi/remote. Always match the exact model name and hardware revision from your seller’s page, and never use a generic or ‘universal’ image.

My Transpeed box is stuck in a boot loop after flashing. Is it bricked?

A boot loop usually means the firmware doesn’t match the board revision โ€” it’s recoverable. Re-enter FEL mode and reflash with the correct .img for your exact model and revision.

Do I need the original remote or power adapter for flashing?

No remote needed. But after flashing, boot with the original 5V/2A adapter โ€” underpowered adapters cause boot loops that mimic a brick.

Can I flash without a Windows PC?

PhoenixSuit is Windows software and needs the Allwinner USB drivers, so a Windows PC (or Windows VM with USB passthrough) is required.
