PhoenixSuit Not Detecting Device? Full Checklist
You plug in the device, launch PhoenixSuit, and… nothing. No device in the list, no popup, no reaction. Run this checklist top to bottom — it resolves nearly every “not detected” case.
The Detection Checklist
- Is the driver actually installed? PhoenixSuit cannot see a device Windows does not recognize. Open Device Manager and look for the Allwinner device — if it has a yellow warning or is missing entirely, fix the driver first: Allwinner USB driver installation guide. On Windows 11 you may need to disable driver signature enforcement during install. Seeing Code 10/43? Fix those errors here.
- Did the device enter FEL mode? Allwinner devices only appear to PhoenixSuit in FEL (recovery) mode. The standard method: hold the reset/boot button on the device, then plug in the USB cable while still holding it, release after 2–3 seconds. If you just plugged it in normally, the device booted into its OS instead — PhoenixSuit will never see it.
- Is your cable a charging-only cable? Many USB cables ship with power wires only and no data wires — they charge the device but carry zero data. Swap to a real shielded USB-A male-to-male data cable: proper shielded USB data cable.
- Try a different USB port. Use a rear motherboard USB 2.0 port — front-panel ports and USB 3.x ports are the most common “it works on one port but not another” cause. Laptop users: a powered USB 2.0 hub is the next best option.
- Check Device Manager for VID_1F3A. With the device plugged in FEL mode, open Device Manager → right-click the device → Properties → Details → Hardware Ids. You should see VID_1F3A (Allwinner’s vendor ID). If it is there, Windows sees the device and the problem is PhoenixSuit-side: restart PhoenixSuit as administrator. If VID_1F3A is absent, go back to steps 1–4.
- Run PhoenixSuit as administrator. Right-click PhoenixSuit.exe → Run as administrator. Permission issues silently block device enumeration on some Windows setups.
- Rule out the device itself. Try a different cable and a different PC if possible. If no PC detects anything on any port with a known-good data cable, the device’s USB port or board may be faulty.
Quick Diagnosis Table
Device Manager shows nothing at all → cable, port, or FEL mode problem (steps 2–4).
Yellow warning icon → driver problem (step 1 + the Code 10/43 guide).
VID_1F3A present but PhoenixSuit empty → run as administrator, restart the tool (steps 5–6).

FAQ
How do I know if my device is in FEL mode?
The screen stays black (no boot logo), and in Device Manager the device appears with hardware ID VID_1F3A. If the device boots normally into its OS, it is not in FEL mode — hold the reset/boot button while plugging in USB.
Why does the device show up on one PC but not another?
Driver state differs per PC. The working PC has the Allwinner driver installed correctly; the other likely needs a clean driver install (or signature enforcement disabled on Windows 11). USB port and power-management settings also differ per machine.
PhoenixSuit sees the device but the flash fails immediately. What now?
Detection is only half the battle — immediate flash failure is usually a cable/port stability issue. See fix the 7% progress freeze, which covers the same USB communication root cause.
Do I need the driver if I already flashed this device before?
If you flashed on the same PC with the same USB port, the driver is still there and you can skip to the FEL-mode and cable checks. If you changed PC, port, or reinstalled Windows, reinstall the driver.
