Vontar (H618) Firmware Download & Flashing Guide
Flash or unbrick your Vontar TV box powered by the Allwinner H618 chip โ find the right firmware and flash it safely with PhoenixSuit.

Vontar’s H618 boxes come in several memory configurations (common: 4+32GB, 4+64GB, sometimes 4+128GB). Before flashing:
- Check the sticker on the bottom of the box for the exact model name and RAM/storage.
- On a working box: Settings โ About to confirm the chip/CPU line.
- Save the seller listing or packaging โ the exact revision is what you match firmware against.
Confirm the Chip: Allwinner H618
PhoenixSuit only works with Allwinner chips. The H618 is a quad-core Cortex-A53 SoC used across Vontar’s newer boxes. Confirm via the About screen, the seller’s spec sheet, or the SoC marking if you open the case.
Where to Find the Firmware
To get the right .img package:
- Go to the seller page where you bought the box (or the brand’s support page) and look for a firmware/download section matching your exact model name + hardware revision.
- Check the sticker on the bottom of the box and the packaging โ the hardware revision (e.g. V2.1, 2+16GB) must match the firmware package.
- Never use a generic package: a firmware built for a different board or RAM/storage configuration can brick the device even if the chip name matches.
- If the seller provides no firmware, contact them and ask for the factory .img for your exact revision before attempting anything.
How to Flash with PhoenixSuit
- Install the Allwinner USB drivers on your Windows PC first โ without them PhoenixSuit cannot see the box in FEL mode. Download the drivers ยท full walkthrough on our drivers page.
- Install PhoenixSuit from the official package (see download page for version notes).
- Get the correct firmware .img for your exact model and hardware revision (see the section above). Place it somewhere you can find it.
- Open PhoenixSuit, go to the Firmware tab and click Image to select your .img file.
- Power the box OFF completely (unplug the power adapter). Hold the reset button (tiny pinhole, usually on the bottom or back), then connect the box to your PC with a USB cable while keeping reset pressed for a few seconds. The box enters FEL (flash) mode โ PhoenixSuit should detect it.
- PhoenixSuit will ask whether to format. Choose Yes for a clean flash. Warning: this wipes all data on the box.
- Click Upgrade and wait. Do not unplug the USB cable or the PC until the green success bar appears.
- Unplug, connect the box to your TV and power it on. The first boot after flashing takes several minutes โ be patient.
Unbrick Tips
If your box won’t boot after a bad flash, work through these before giving up:
- Re-enter FEL mode carefully: unplug everything, hold reset, then plug in USB. Timing matters โ try a few times.
- Swap the cable and USB port: cheap charge-only cables are a classic failure point. Use a known-good data cable and a rear motherboard USB port.
- Reinstall the drivers: a yellow exclamation mark in Windows Device Manager means the driver didn’t stick. See the drivers page.
- Try a different PC โ driver conflicts on one machine sometimes vanish on another.
- Check the power supply: after flashing, boot with the original 5V/2A adapter. Underpowered adapters cause boot loops that look like bricks.
- Flash the correct .img again โ most “bricks” are just the wrong firmware. Reflash with the right file for your exact model + hardware revision.
๐งฑ Bricked beyond repair?
If repeated unbrick attempts fail, the board may be physically damaged โ replacing it with a same-chip new box is usually cheaper than repair:

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I flash the wrong firmware?
Flashing a firmware package built for a different model, board revision, or RAM/storage configuration can brick the box โ it may not boot, show no display, or lose Wi-Fi and remote function. Always match the exact model name and hardware revision from your seller’s page, and never use a generic or ‘universal’ image.
PhoenixSuit flashes successfully but the box won’t boot. Why?
Most often the .img was built for a different board revision or memory config. Double-check the sticker on your box against the firmware package details and reflash with the matching file.
Is it safe to flash over USB from a laptop on battery?
Not recommended. A power cut mid-flash is the #1 cause of hard bricks โ plug the laptop into mains and don’t touch the cable until PhoenixSuit reports success.
The box was already bricked when I bought it second-hand. Can firmware fix it?
If it’s a software brick (bad flash), yes โ FEL mode reflash usually recovers it. If the board itself is damaged, no firmware will help; see the replacement note above.
